Fred Johnson: President of the Board
Fred was born and grew up in Manti, UT, one of 10 children. He developed a great love for the peoples
of Africa during his church mission to South Africa in 1977-1979. He is a graduate of Utah State
University, majoring in Business. He has worked in state government for 16 years with Utah Forestry
Fire and State Lands. His current assignment is Fire Management Officer for Central Utah. Fred has
been involved in several entrepreneurial ventures and start-up companies. In recent years, Kenya has
become the center of his spare time focus. He is interested in helping improve the educational,
economic and spiritual opportunities for all Kenyans.

Teralee Kemp, Board Member Teralee was born and raised in Panama. She
graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Biology Composite Teaching, and she feels very
strongly that education is the solution to most of the problems that plague society. She has traveled
to several under-developed countries, including the Dominican Republic, where she spent eighteen months as a missionary teaching self-reliance and religious principles. She also taught in Tonga for four months. Teralee currently works as a Spanish translator for the Utah National Guard.

Joan Johnson, Scholarships Joan grew up in Provo, Utah, and attended Snow
College in Manti, Utah, where she currently lives with her husband and six children. Joan has served in
local youth and children organizations. She has worked to establish a community based drug task force
to reduce drug activity in her community. She currently works with special needs children at the Manti
Elementary School. Her husband served his mission in South Africa and shares Joan's love for the people
of Africa. Joan loved her first experience there in the spring of 2004 and plans to return one day.

Kurt Twining, Webmaster Kurt is a student at Brigham Young
University studying to become a technology teacher in the public school system. He served his mission
in Brazil and developed a deeper understanding of the suffering through which many people in the world
pass. In high school he was active in community service organizations and always strives to help those
less fortunate than him. He is currently a Peer Mentor for entering students at BYU and is gaining
experience helping others to help themselves.
