Gene retired in 2003 after more than 32 years of employment doing Research and Development work for a major oil company. During those years Gene was awarded four U.S. Patents for equipment design and development of a chemical process.
Through his life, he has served in a wide variety of teaching and leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition, Gene has volunteered more than 12 years inside state prisons in both Texas and Utah. Eight years he worked as a one-on-one mentor while the other 4+ years he taught in the classroom. Gene and his wife, Judy, have 6 children and 19 grandchildren.
